  4. This letter is in response to your inquiry regarding our
  5. flexibility in the discount rate we offer for early
  6. settlement of accounts.

  8. Our established discount is 2% of the total invoiced amount
  9. when payment is received within 10 days of delivery.  This
  10. figure is not one that has been arbitrarily chosen, but is
  11. based on cost, overhead and profit.  To increase this discount
  12. rate for all of our accounts would seriously jeopardize our
  13. firm and to increase the rate for an individual account would
  14. be both unfair and unethical.  I believe that you will find
  15. that the 2% discount rate we offer our customers is standard
  16. in the industry.
